Over time, your computer's hard drive may run out of space due to files and other things building up. Some of this can be cleared or deleted without issue. Follow the steps below to clean up some hard drive space. Reach out to IT if you are still running into storage issues after completing these steps.

- Go to your Downloads folder and delete any downloads that you may not need anymore.

- On some computers, the Dell backup and recovery software has some issues with taking up too much space. This can be safely disabled.

   - Open up Dell SupportAssist.

   - Click on the gear at the top right and go to Settings.

   - Open up the System Repair section and uncheck the box that says System Repair is Turned On if it's enabled. If it is not enabled, then it is not an issue.

- Windows has its own Disk Cleanup.

   - In the search box on the taskbar, type disk cleanup, and select Disk Cleanup from the list of results.

   - Select the drive you want to clean up, and then select OK.

   - Under Files to delete, select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.

   - Select OK.

- You can see exactly what is taking up space on your computer by downloading and running the installer for WizTree from https://www.diskanalyzer.com/download

   - If you feel comfortable, you can delete some of the larger files found by WizTree. Otherwise, please contact IT if you have any questions or to do it for you.

CCleaner is a free software which analyzes your hard drive for any extraneous things which can be safely deleted without a major impact. You can download it from: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download
